Alf (eng. ALF from English Alien Life Form - extraterrestrial life form) - American comedy television series in 1986 release. Produced by Alien Productions. In the US, the series ran for four seasons between 1986 and 1990. Shown in 80 countries.

The doll depicting Alpha was controlled during the filming by the creator of the series, Paul Fusco, who also voiced the alien. In several episodes of the first season, where Alf is seen in full growth, his role was played by midget actor Mihai Meszaros, but filming with a live actor was too expensive and time-consuming, so after the first season they completely switched to a doll.
His name and surname is Gordon Shumway, he is 229 years old (born October 28, 1756 according to earth chronology). He is one of the few survivors from the exploded planet Melmac, crashing his spaceship into the garage of an ordinary American Tanner family in September 1986. The head of the family, Willie Tanner, called him "Alf" (short for the English Alien Life Form - an extraterrestrial life form), which replaced Gordon with his real name for a very long time. The Tanners sheltered Alpha and hid him from the so-called Alien Research Unit. He became a member of their family, and although the stranger did not always appreciate the kindness shown to him, he genuinely loved Willy, his wife Kate, their children Lynn and Brian, and even the Tanner cat Lucky (from the English - "Lucky"), for which he often hunted - On Melmac, cats were considered a delicacy. Moreover, the alien managed to get acquainted with many people, in addition to the Tanners themselves. Alpha's adventures on Earth form the basis of the plot of the series.
